EchoStar 15 is moving from Brazilian service at 45W to the 72.5W slot (at end of September) where it will be a "spare" backup for Nimiq 5. Detailed application with technical details yet to be filed.

I don't know if they get screwed, if they ain't paying for it anymore. If an echostar satellite, then they set the price to lease space off of it.

No one got screwed, it was sitting there and nobody was using it. I assume it was there either for lease, or for an ill fated attempt by Dish to jump into the South American market. Perhaps Brazilian government wouldn't play ball as far as a Dish Latin America went, or they couldn't find anyone to lease the bird.

Sorry, my bad, I worked with a guy name Brazille and he wore it on his uniform ,so I spelt the country the same way.

Actually, it is Brasil (in Portuguese) and everyone in the English-speaking world spells it wrong.

Actually, according to Webster's English dictionary, the correct spelling in English is Brazil. In Portuguese, the spelling is Brasilia or the variation Brasil. Germany in German is "Deutschland" however, the correct spelling in English is Germany.

If an issue does occur, they're all set to reduce the amount of time to get customer programming back to limit calls.

Since that is a Canadian slot, I wonder if they had to get CRTC approval? I'm sure they did if they had to, just curious though.
