Yup. I just hope they make adapters so I can use some of my existing home automation / security equipment (especially existing security cameras)

with dish's penchant for using over seas call centers, I would not allow Dish to have access to my home surveillance equipment.

I'm sure that if you loose your satellite signal, your home automation equipment won't work, till you reaquire your sat signal and do a check switch run .

going to say that the hopper has to be Internet connected.

Nope it's acting as a controller and does not need signal to function.

Imagine if that were the case robers going to houses and bringing a buddy to cover your lnb do they can break into your house.
