EchoStar / Dish’s Path Forward

Here is my experience with Best buy and buying a Dishwasher off their website.

1. On Sept 6, 2025 I bought a dishwasher off their website and paid for install and haul away of old dishwasher plus 3 years of warranty with the geek squad.

2. I received email confirmation and order number generated that day.

3. On the 7th, they set a text saying the day of delivery was set for the 24th.

4. On the 22nd I received an update text that my window for delivery would be between 745am and 1045 am on the 24th.

5. So yesterday the 24th, I sat here from 0745 to 1045am and received no text or emails or phone calls. So I called their number through the text message. The computerized message said it would be delivered sometime between 700am and 700pm today.

So I asked for live customer service agent and I was switched to a guy after waiting 5 minutes on hold listening to crappy music. I then asked where they were and why I haven't heard from them. The csr says: " Let me check." He then says: "we don't have the dishwasher in and it won't be in till Oct 13th. Do you want to cancel the order?"

I said Why didn't y'all call me to tell me that or text or email me, like you have been doing all through the month? He said "I am sorry sir, it is a automatic generated computerized system." I said so I made plans to sit here and wait for a delivery that y'all had no intention of making for 3 hours and if I hadn't of called this morning I would still be waiting. I then told him that I had been a Best buy Customer with a 15,000 limit Credit card for over 20 years and this is the first time I tried to use it for appliances and it obviously is a mistake if this is the way the company handles customer deliveries and orders. He then said again: "do you want to cancel?" I said Hell yeah! I then asked if I could get it back in cash, since I had already paid it off using my savings. He said:"It will go back on the card used in 1 to 3 business days."

So I guess I will be using my Best Buy card for groceries next month to get the credit balance off it. I also wrote a complaint to their website under Account-Other heading , since they don't have a way to pick complaint on their site. I got an email today saying that they received my communication and it would be forwarded to the proper department and it will be answered within 48 to 72 hours. I am really curious what their response will be and I bet I will get nothing for my trouble. So yeah customer service is not only dead it is now going A.I. period.
I hate best buy and dealing with the phone robot. It never sends you to your local store instead you go to some overseas call center god forbid if you want buying advice on an item and you don't have an order on your acct that's a disaster!!!

Awesome. I sure hope he has a good plan-of-attack for the future & doesn't leave us high & dry someday. We need that super duper Hopper 3.2 with built in Plus.
I would love a Hopper with a built in Plus unit. Then it would be more like the Joey 4. I saw one at my buddy's house and it is lightening fast and it makes the screen look sharp. Everything comes out in upconverted 4k.

Update on the Best Buy reply. I got no response from them and my complaint was sent back to me by email. So much for automation and A.I. bullsh*t. What a joke.

I love the Plus. It works great.
how a
LOL. I have a HD RF modulator connected to my Hopper 3 Plus and then connected to my home distribution coax splitter. Splitter goes to all 10 TVs in my home. I have 8 remote controls paired to my Hopper 3 Plus. I wish I could pair more. Most the time I sit in my dog house in the garage and watch TV. I use remote in my garage to control the Hopper 3 Plus in our greatroom. This way wife & I can watch a recording at the same time. If wife wants to watch something else or if I'm not doing good remote control duties she sends me a text and I snap to it. I wish the H3 and J4s had syncing capability. If they did, I would do away with the HD RF modulator.
We have our hopper tied into our crestron system on an ipad and on my phone. I can change channels anywhere as long as i have an internet connection :biggrin. i can change channels while at the mall :biggrin i use the FF & rewind buttons turn it on and off:biggrin:rolleyes turn the volume up and down :biggrin. i can even see what everyone's watching :biggrin

In order for AutoHop to work all the stations need to be on the same transponder. The Hopper actually records the entire transponder to capture all 4 networks for your area.

And it use to be the commercial skipping times were programmed by hand, not automated so someone had to watch and record the times of the commercials so the auto hop knew when to skip the commercials. I don't know if it is still done that way. Its got to be hard now as some stations have in their contract that Autohop is delayed for x number of days after a show airs, while others get it the next day.

It would be hard to do this for other channels.
We don't use the primetime function we record 3 shows off of the networks.. the kangaroos still pops up

Don't the hopper have an auto tune feature :love hell at that point just go through the guide and set all of her programming up for the day like a crock pot meal set it and forget it :biggrin

The cable companies are losing the battle when it comes to fiber bring offered. Not only is the method of delivery better, but when people realize what difference upload speed makes its a no brainer to switch. Not to mention the pricing is very competitive.

Starlink if having no impact on Cable or Fiber customers. The only providers this is causing an issue with is Hughesnet, Viasat and some Cellular service providers who either charge for data or do not have the download speeds.

The reason for the cable company (Comcast Specifically) offering home security was to be able to offer a product to make up for people not taking home phones. They wanted to be able to offer triple and quad play packages to their TV and internet customers.

The home security systems just never caught on. The people who bought it, like myself, bought it because of a promotion and bring cheaper than a double play. I ended up dropping it due to the out dated technology, it was very clunky and I hated the home security router which was only rated to 100 megs. The tech who installed my home security really expected me to hook my home network behind the 100 meg netgear home security router. There was no way I was running my home network behind 3 routers Xfinity Gig Router ---> Home Security 100 Meg Router ---> Home Eero Gig Mesh Network. It was bad enough going through 2 routers, as I didn't think you could put the Xfinity router in bridge mode.

The last straw for me was really the crappy cameras, where as I could get a google home camera for less money better picture quality and the app was so much more better and polished off.

As far as mobile, this was mostly to replace the loss of home phone sales, but also to keep internet customers. Offer a great price for cell phone service, and make a requirement for that great rate that you have to subscribe to internet.

I actually cancelled my Xfinity cell phone account, cheaper yes! However the savings was not worth having absolutely no support from the local store, as every time I went to the store, unless I was buying a new phone from them they employees shoved me off to the 800 Xfinity number which you had no choice but to speak to the Philippines and they made you use their stupid app for just about everything from resetting a pin number to changing out a SIM.
i am looking forward to seeing amazon leo sat internets as there promising 1 gig speeds.. that will make ET cry since elon has been touting gig service

There was some original thinking that was put into the hopper, so to speak. They'd gotten so far into DVR that they could only think more recording is better, and hey, let's make it automatic so folks don't have to fuss with setting timing. Oh and let's apply it specifically to the broadcast nets since they're still watched a lot, and even better, given they've caused us so much trouble with the FCC and all because we flouted DMA rules, let's put some of our people to work sticking in flags where commercials begin & end so they don't even have to push skip on the recordings they never had to set up in the first place, and let the commercial-free viewing begin essentially immediately the same night. That'll get 'em.

And, it did.
