How long does it take to format. It seems like it taking a long time. 3tb second one on my hopper.

I'm not 100% sure on the time frame for this. I am sure the formatting process can vary based on whether or not you are Wiping the EHD. How long has it taken?
Dish has never said it would accept more than 2TB. As the optimum price point (min $/TB) has moved to 3TB or 4TB, it seems it is time to increase the buffers and allow larger drives. Yes, the formatting time will get even longer but compare against formatting 2 or more drives and having 14 drives (.75 to 2TB) spewed over the floor, as I have.

and when that 4TB EHD dies, all the great programming, 4 times as much as a 1TB, will be gone....
