Futbol a Football Promotion Comes to an Exciting End During Rams Vs. Cowboys Halftime Show on New Year's Day
Indiana Resident David Green Competes for the Chance to Take Home One of Television's Biggest Cash Prizes Ever
BRISTOL, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 27, 2005--Will David Green, a 29-year-old former marine from New Albany, Indiana, become an instant multi-millionaire on New Year's Day? Viewers will have to tune into ESPN Deportes on Sunday night to watch Green attempt an empty-net soccer goal from midfield and a 40-yard field goal during halftime of the Rams at Cowboys telecast on January 1 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Green's name was randomly selected from nearly 100,000 entrants who participated in the ESPN Deportes Futbol a Football promotion.
Televised live on ESPN Deportes during halftime of the Rams vs. Cowboys game on New Year's Day, Green will attempt to make both kicks for $10 million. If Green can score the empty-net soccer goal from midfield and kick the 40-yard field goal on only one attempt each, he will take home $10 million. If only one of the kicks is successful, Green will receive $25,000. If neither kick is successful, Green will receive $10,000 just for trying and being a good sport.
This marks the first year of the ESPN Deportes Futbol a Football contest, which ran from July 25 to November 5. Interested participants were directed to log on to ESPNdeportes.com, ESPN.com, FutbolAFootball.com, or call 1-800-DEPORTES to register for the promotion.
"This is the biggest promotion ESPN has ever rolled out," said Traug Keller, senior vice president, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Radio. "We're using Futbol a Football to demonstrate the unique value of ESPN Deportes to our viewers, affiliates, and advertisers."
"This is unbelievable. I am completely overwhelmed," said Green. "I entered Futbol a Football on ESPN.com, but I never expected to be this lucky. I still can't believe that I might be coming back home with $10 million."
Green, who works as a bartender at Caesars Indiana, a riverboat casino resort, attended the University of Louisville and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1994 - 1998. He is an aficionado of body art and tattoos and estimates that 80% of his body is covered with tattoos. Green's fondness for tattoos gained him national attention when he was once featured on a Discovery Channel special about the history of tattoos. Green was urged to enter the Futbol a Football contest by his fiancee.
