Washington, D.C. (October 13, 2007) -- ESPNews will launch a High-Definition simulcast channel in March 2008.

That's according to an article by Multichannel News.

ESPN officials say that DIRECTV, Comcast and Time Warner Cable has agreed to carry the high-def channel.

ESPNews, which offers 24-hour sports news and highlights, will be the third ESPN network to go high-def. ESPN and ESPN2 already offer high-def simulcasts.

Multichannel News reports that ESPNews HD will feature a high-def "sidelines graphic," which will wrap around the top left and bottom of the screen. The graphic will display news, scores and other sports information.

“Our HD viewers will have an unprecedented opportunity to view pristine 16x9 HD highlights accompanied by an abundance of real-time information from all areas of the sports world,” said Rick Paiva, ESPN's vice president of creative services.
