ExpressVu Help in SoCal

Don't think so.
They have to be blind not to see what *C is gaining south of the border with their great signal covering North America and home away from home program.

Evu, unlike *C, really does not care about US subscribers. And will go out of their way to shut you down if they find out you are in the US. Even if you are a Canadian snowbird.

My brother wrote them an email a year ago asking why they can't keep the more popular type channels on the tp's that reach the US for when he vacations here. They told him, if they find out he is using his recievers in the US, they will close his account, and he is violating the service agreement.

I guess we'll find out soon enough how tight that beam will be.

I imagine *C is hoping that Bev keeps the new satellites beamed tightly to Canada. All the more business for them with their home away from home program across the border. The *C signal reaches all of North America without the problems that Bev people are getting.
If you want Canadian programming in the States, *C is the way to go.
This is a vast market that Bev is missing out on and *C is taking advantage of. This, plus the fact that *C doesn't have to spend money on countering signal theft like Bev does amounts to a black rather then red margin that Bev is well aware of .
What Bev can do to help alleviate this differential is anyones guess.
The answer could lie with the customer base. :)

BCE has far bigger problems with their core core customer base than to worry about Expressvu satellite. They are getting trounced in telephone/internet/wireless by Rogers.

Their poor planning on inground infrastructure will take all their $ and years to catch up to cable in Ontario + Quebec. Their focus has to be on the one wire solution to these customers - and that means IPTV.

As for SC, it's just a little playtoy for Shaw that brings them free cash flow to invest in their Shaw infrastructure in Western Canada. SC will have an easy ride for 2 years until they have to invest big $$$ in Ciel 1 transponders. - and who knows what C1's footprint will be.

Telesat was sold last year. BCE only owns about 5% of CTVGlobemedia now.

In his 5 years as leader, Sabia did not raise the stock value despite selling assets and closing whole divisions down, and lowering costs by sending CSR jobs to India.

The largest shareholder forced a buyout by them + Cerberus. For these efforts, Sabia is getting the boot along with a $37M parachute.

BTW, his sellout of Telesat included putting an additional $600m of future debt onto Expressvu.
