External Hard Drive VIP 211

Western Digital 500 GB USB 2 powered and VIP 211. Unable to reformat after paid activation. No popup. VIP recognizes Hard drive. Any help?

How do you know the receiver recognizes it if there is no popup?

If there is a popup, and it's still telling you to call Dish to activate the DVR function, then they didn't send your receiver an authorization hit and need to redo it. I had to call twice to get this done properly.

A USB powered drive will not work. Must have it's own AC power supply.
