External HDD

Currently I have a WD My Book Essential as an external HDD for a VIP722. It seems they have been discontinued and replaced with the My Book Desktop. I'm considering the WD 3 TB Elements or WD 3 TB My Book Desktop. Is one preferable over the other?

Dish is only supported up to 2 TB. Unless they changed that again.
