After searching for some answers for my basement remodel I came across this forum & glad I did. It will be a valuable resource from here on out.
I've started a remodel of our basement that will include 2 TV's. I currently have the VIP211K HD Solo receiver that I will obviously be upgrading. The feed for this receiver comes directly from the dish, through the side of the house to the receiver through a single coaxial cable. I want to run all the proper wiring before I start putting up a ceiling which will be both suspended ceiling & drywall. So, from where the coaxial cable comes in from the dish, where do I go from there? The plan is to have the new receiver in a cabinet close to where the cable comes into the house with a small TV at that location and the 2nd TV located at the other end of the room approx. 31'. I need to get this done in advance of getting the TV's or having a Dish Technician come to install the new equipment. I plan on using a VIP222K receiver. I want the TV at the other end of the room to have the HD capability which I assume means running an HDMi cable to it. I do have a VIP222K receiver that runs 2 TV's in our upstairs and noticed that from the wall it goes to a 3 way splitter then into the receiver. I'm hoping it is just hooking the coaxial that comes directly to the dish into a triplexer then into the 2 satellite in and home distribution on the back of the receiver. From there hook 1 TV for HD using an HDMi and the other TV with RCA cable. My concern is that it was originally hooked up for a solo receiver. I didn't know if this would make a difference or not. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I hope to get this done this week. This is all pretty novice stuff but I don't want to get surprised with having to run exposed wires after the basement remodel is complete! Thanks!

How many receivers do you want connected? What dish do you have? Do you own or lease your current receivers? Do you want DVR capability?

From your question it looks like 4 or 5 TVs, an upgrade to Hopper & Joey might be your best option.

The dish is a turbo HD. We have 4 TVs in the house currently with 2 receivers. The basement will add 2 TVs & 1 receiver. No need for DVR in the basement. I looked at the Hopper but not interested in upgrading at this time. I'm just hoping to properly run the correct wires for easy and concealed installation.

If it were me I would want to future proof as much as possible.
i would run an Ethernet cable t o the HD location assuming there will be a smart TV there (someday). I would also plan on putting the 222 close to the HD TV for a short HDMI cable and coax back to the SD TV.
Can you even buy an SD TV today?
Then I would wire everything as if I was going to install a Hopper Joey system someday. You might want to read about the Virtual Joey available on LG TVs before you buy the new sets.
Some day soon Dish will start insisting that everyone upgrade to Hopper. Dish soon is defined as about a week or a decade.

I agree I would wire it as if you were wiring it for the Hopper system, then if you upgrade in the future you won't have to run any new wiring. I would make sure you have 3 runs of 3 GHz RG6 running from your dish to a central location in the basement where the node could be placed when you upgrade. From that central location I would run single lines of the same RG6 to any potential TV locations. Your Dish installer could most likely wire it up from there using your existing equipment. Then when you decide to go Hopper, you just swap out the boxes and add a duo node. You won't even have to drill a hole or run a wire because all the wiring would be going in now.
