Verizon is working on changing Virginia's law to make it easier for cable competitors, like Verizon FiOS, to enter markets and offer the whole package of services. Texas did make such a change and that is why FiOS will be rolled out on a fast track in Texas.

We are not the only Virginians wanting more choices of providers and technology. In fact, by next Monday Verizon will have launched a website for a coalition called "Cable Choice Now." Everyone is encouraged to sign up so you can keep posted on Verizon's efforts and let you know how you can help. The legislation will be introduced in January at the 2006 session of the VIrginia General Assembly.

The web address is www.cablechoicenow.org and wil be launched on Monday, 3 October.
