I liked to ask what channels are in HD with FTA?... Right now I am only pointing to 97W but there aint no HD channels there. Are there any HD channels currently on FTA satellites? if so, What sat?

I'm looking to buy a new receiver but I don't want to waste my $$$ on HD if I can't get HD.

Thanks!

PS: I searched Lyngsat but could not find any HD channels in the clear except AMC21 but there are only 2 channels in HD. I read some threads that AMC21 is might be or already have dropped channels. And some threads say you don't get audio on PBS stations.

On Ku band, the only regular channels are PBS on AMC21 and NBC ( DVB-S2 8psk) on AMC1 . However, there ARE a lot of HD sports feeds spread out across the sky. College Football and College Basketball are heavily covered . A blindscanning receiver is necessary to identify the tp's, or you can join forums that specialize in identifying feeds.

how to get Dolby:

AC3 can be decoded by your hi-fi equipment, by feeding it from an FTA receiver via optical or coaxial cable.
Alternately, the Sonic Voom external box (about $20 shipped - search the forum) can be used to decode to two RCA cables.
Lastly, all HD FTA receivers already decode Dolby, so no external decoder required.
