I just heard that in 2009 Galaxy25 is being replaced by Galaxy19. How will that affect Glorystar? As we are set to go up on G25 this week, will we still be picked up on G* in 2009?

Thanks!

Usually a changeover is seamless, there may be a period where services are broadcasting from both the old and new satellites. I'm sure you'll hear about the switch well in advance.

I will try to find the Boeing list of satellite positions, but I think a "replacement" usually means "in the same place" so as one is turned off, the other is turned on. I did not work for that division, but I heard a bit of the discusion by the engineers. Could that be Galaxy 9? That is a spare parked at 91*W and could be relocated.

Sounds about right.. T5/IA5/Galaxy25 was launched in late 97 and was designed with 12 years of life. They will launch another bird and transition the services over to the new bird without the customers knowing it.
