I recently completed a self install of a slimeline and hr20/700. I can receive some hd channels like 73-ESPNHD 70-HBOHD 72-ESPN2HD-75-TNTH 76-HDTH 79-HDNET.
But others like T101HD-101 HBOHD-501 HBOWHD-504 MAXHD- 512 MAXWHD-514 I get a gray screen that locks up my reciever for about 2-5 minutes. Are HBOHD-70 and HBOHD-501 on different transponders? I thought it might be a signal strength issue here are my numbers:

I have VOD and some of the shows i download play fine but some have the gray screen. Could this be a codec problem with my dvr? I read somewhere that different hd channels use different mpeg codecs. Is the same true for VOD? I've been tweaking my aim and the transponders I get seem to have good numbers. Could it be a bad dvr?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the B-Band converters? or if using an SWM LNB / Switch did you leave them off? The channels listed as working are MPEG 2 and the one that don't are MPEG 4.

Have you checked the display resolutions to make sure they are set to something you tv can display?

have the b-band converters on both tuner inputs. not using a switch, single tv install 7 foot rg6 coax run from dish to receiver. Have not grounded the ground block yet could that cause this? I have a 1080p tv conected to the receiver via an hdmi cable all resolutions are checked on the dtv dvr.

Did a system reset from setup menu and the hd channels came in for about 45 seconds hbohd-501 then maxhd-512 Then the picture froze but the audio kept on when i tried to rewind nothing happened i then tried to change to another hd channel and got the gray screen. seems like a problem with the dvr or firmware.
