"Important Update on Gray Media-Owned Local Channels
Gray Media has blocked access to its local channels on our service instead of continuing to work toward a fair agreement. To help prevent any service disruption, we offered Gray Media a temporary contract extension while negotiations continued, but they declined. We remain actively engaged in discussions and are committed to restoring your channels as soon as possible.

Gray Media is using its market power to push for unreasonable demands that would significantly increase the cost of carrying their channels. As one of the largest broadcasters in the country, Gray Media owns more than 150 ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX stations, reaching nearly 40% of U.S. households. They are now demanding more than $100 million in additional fees for the same channels you receive today.

In addition, Gray Media introduced last-minute demands for stations they have not yet acquired, which has further complicated negotiations and delayed a resolution for our customers.

Rising fees from broadcasters like Gray Media make it increasingly difficult to keep TV service affordable. We believe these demands are unsustainable and unfair to our customers.

We remain committed to standing up for you and working to secure fair rates that help ensure the best possible value. Thank you for your patience and support while we work to resolve this matter."

In smaller markets like mine (Mankato, MN) that just leaves ABC available. In our market Gray owns everything. Keyc (CBS and Fox) and KMNF-LD (NBC). ABC is from Minneapolis since there is no ABC in market.

We're not the only market like that with Gray owning everything in the market. Parkersburg west Virginia and Presque Isle Maine are others.

For most - NBD.

OTA. Or other sources.

How many folks, percentage wise, pay for Dish locals?

Sounds like Gray is getting what they THINK they want.

I don't think so. But let's see what someone else, more knowledgeable, thinks.

Our NBC station is off Dish now but we rarely watch any NBC anyway.
I can't think of any NBC programming we regularly watch or want to watch.
Most all of the network shows I watch are on CBS.
Looks like we are going through another cycle of doctors and lawmen right now - YAWN!
We have a dual channel OTA adapter on our H3 plus My TiVo Roamio and Edge both have 4 tuners.
I would wish the FCC would restrict the ownership of multiple stations in the same market but that horse is out of the barn.

I guess this why I dont have NBC anymore, then again there is nothing on it I watch so far ABC,Fox CBS is there, have not had CW seeing that for some reason, locked to cabletv in the area, More reason to get OTA tuner

I willing to bet most people do, not alot people are gona be willing to get OTA and tuner to get to work

Most small markets would be screwed if that was the rule. My market has had CBS & FOX (as a sub) since 2007. Until a few years ago KEYC was the only station for Mankato. Then we got a low powered station (KMNF-LD) that Gray launched NBC and CW on. It really is just the small markets where in some cases one company owns everything. In other markets its not "multiple stations" issue. The owners figured out that they can put it as a sub and it doesnt count. Look at a company like Sinclair who has put FOX on subchannel in bigger markets when there are other full service stations.

Seems to be incredibly poor timing. Football season is done, MLB is virtually gone from the networks, and this seasons regular shows are winding down as we move into Spring and Summer when fewer people watch anyway. Kind of allows Dish to protract it a bit. The longer they hold out the more money Gray loses.. As the networks and sports move more and more into streaming, outfits like Gray could be rapidly losing leverage.

I stand corrected. I must have been thinking of EPG data.

Man grey is getting desperate. They post stuff like this without saying they are trying to raise the rates on something they give away for FREE with antenna.

Does anyone even watch local channels any more? Network programming sucks, local news is posted on their website and YouTube. If Dish made me pay for locals I probably wouldn't have the service.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that it went into effect ... poor timing ... usually they expire just before Football season starts.
