When I move my receiver to another room, I usually take the coax cable off first and then unplug the receiver.. When moved, I do the same thing, first the coax, then plug it back in. It does not go through the reset process of acquring signal, etc. But I noticed that I did not have guide info past the hour. Is there a set procedure on this?

You need to download the guide. The rebooting process will include this. Unplug the receiver for 10 seconds and allow it to reboot and it will download the program guise information.

I did and I understand.. My question is.... How come sometimes when I unplug the receiver, it does not reboot on its own, and sometimes it does? Does it have anything to do with the coax cable being taken off first and attached back first?

The receiver is designed to reboot when the power is removed. Sometimes removing the coax first confuses the receiver and it will not complete the reboot process but this is not a good thing. I always advise to remove the power first before removing coax cables other than TV2 & OTA cables.

I would never remove any cables before unplugging it. Any type of AV equipment should be hooked up with the cables first then plugged in and when unhooking, the cables should be removed after unplugging. It's much safer that way and most devices explain that in the manual.
