hacking dishnetwork? (noob)

Im tired of paying for my satellite so ive decided i wanted to look into hacking it instead. however i need someone experianced in this matter to point me in the right direction (resources, etc). I found a book or 2 at hackerscatalog.com any comments on that? i have the 3000 and 4000 series.
any help would be appreciated.
