Not too much plot to get in the way of 3D special effects of dying witches. Yes it does try to explain what really happened to Hansel and Gretel, and there is lots of witch killing. It has a weird technology mix of swords, axes, arrows and guns. Yes guns, but I guess bullets are not great for 3D so lots more arrows.

It was half shot in 3D and half converted from 2D (they changed mid filming). So, in some areas the 3D looks good and other areas it looks fake. It does not help that the witches only tend to come at night when it is good and dark.

It is not bad if you like this sort of movie, otherwise wait for the late night TV run or video release. It is pretty telling that it was going to come out last spring but lost its slot and got dumped into January. Then again there is not much competition, so it may do better. It also helps that Jeremy Renner was in some big movies last year to pique some interest.
