might not be too many jazz lovers here but today (monday) marks the pianist, most famous for take five, 90th birthday. brubeck has a pacemaker but is still doing limited tours. he's lost a step or two but this guy is fabulous in concert. i have loved his music for most of my 60 years.

we should all live to be 90 and still do what we love the most. god bless dave. :)

Wow! I had no idea of his age. But then again I was introduced to "Take Five" in the 70s. That song really put a woofer to work with those bass drum "thuds". I wasn't a huge fan, but have appreciated some of his work over the years...

Never heard of him, but 90 is something to be happy about.

Happy birthday Dave, I've enjoyed seeing him in concert several times. He is one of my all time favorites. I was fortunate enough to see Lionel Hamptom play when he was like 92 and he could still make the vibes sing.

i saw brubeck live with the london symphony orchestra many years ago. you haven't lived until you hear take five with strings and things.
