Hauppauge introduces the HD PVR 2 video recorder

You can record component or HDMI (unprotected) sources, up to 1080p30, and the video and audio are stored as h.264 and 5.1 surround sound. The new unit will be available on February 1st, but the press release after the break doesn't include the price.

Whats the difference in that one and the "Gaming" one that is $40 less?

New sw and 1080p60 no delay passthru, I want to try to archive my 3D from my Sony camcorder to pc HDD for media player play.

Unboxed and installed software last night while watching Survivor, doubt I'll have time to mess with tonight and be out of town possibly next 2... it came with 2 Hdmi cables which was cool.

Won't record from the Sony HD10 in 3D, has a bug where it defaults to 2 channel sound on 5.1 material also... the arcsoft software does work with my 1212 better than total media extreme though.

My 1212 is on the fritz and the PVR2 gamer won't record 5.1 so I have this on the way ... Hauppauge 1512 HD-PVR 2 High Definition Personal Video Recorder with Digital Audio (SPDIF) and IR Blaster Technology

I'd like to know how well this would work with Dish recordings. I've got a few on EHD that I'd feel better about if I could put on Blu-ray.

As long as they don't have HDCP they will record pretty good, I was happy with the 1212, but its not being recognized by my pc's. The gamer only gets 2 channel sound via HDMI (no optical port) but will record some higher bit rate and cleaner looking recordings than the 1212 did.
