First great fourm ...

MY zip code is 01701

I'm installing FTA system with a SG2100 Motorized H to H Mount. 30" dish with a KU Band LNBF

I know my Latitude is 42.3 and longitude is 71.1... from what I have been reading you look for the close sat to the "71.1" would that be Brasilsat B1 at 70.0°W, Nahuel 1 at 71.8°W or AMC 6 at 72.0°W ? the Beam on all of them outside the states?

My other question is how do I find what numbers to set on my Dish/motor(Elevation / declination) is it diffrent from a normal dish with out the motor?

thank you so much in advance for all your help.

I would use AMC-6 as a true south (KU) satellite.
http://www.lyngsat.com/amc6.html But there is nothing much on it.
So it may be an idea to use a DBS LNB and use N1 as a true south bird, then simply change back to the KU LNBF.

Motor elevation= 48 deg.
Dish elevation= 23.5 deg

Great thank u ...

should I use Freq : 3800 V and SR : 21000 for the AMC 6 at 72.0°W.

No, thats C band (3800) as its 4 digits, KU band always has 5 digits, have a look at the below link, as I said there is nothing much on AMC-6 you would have to confirm with someone that there is a live TP(transponder) or channel broadcasting before pointing the dish. Let us know when you are just about to point the dish and we will give it a blind scan and see whats there. There are other ways to do it but using a true south satellite is best (IMO) but not everyone has a LIVE true south KU satellite to use.

http://www.dmsiusa.com/charts.htm

I am blind scanning AMC-6 right now..........

Its also a good idea to set up the dish first without a motor find the satellite then add the motor, I found one live feed right now, but remember they can be gone within minutes sometimes they are up for hours. So ask someone to do a blind scan to double check for a live TP. So that you can use it to point your dish. This one is LIVE right now, its just a test card

Thank you so much... ok I'm going to give it atry now ...

what should I use for Symbol Rates/Freq ?

Thanks agian

I will check to see if the above is still there....stand by!

Its gone I will do another blind scan....................

Nothing found on blind scan.........

I did a TP. check and found the below, maybe you can use that to get in the ballpark, and I will keep blind scanning to see if a live channel pops up!

11858 freq. H pol. 13.021 S/R

Thanks .. I will try that ... justr to make sure I have a coship reciver, on the setup screen: ( I have Fortec star FSKU-V UNIV SINGLE LNBF)
LNB type: Univ ?
LNB Freq 1: 09750

LNB Freq 2: 10600

0/12 Volt: none
0
12 ?

22 KHZ tone: none
0
22?
Diseq : port A
B
C

C/K band: none
0/12
0.22?

Thanks agian ...

Looks good, the 22khz should auto set when you pick Universal 1 LNBF. Remember you are just looking foe KU band right now, and if you are not using any kind of switch the DiSEqC should be off.
Good luck!

Done another blind scan, still nothing live, I will try again in around 30 mins!

I used the 11858 freq. H pol. 13.021 S/R and I got strength : 74 and quility 98 but when I sarched there was no channels ... so is that my true south (this is with out the motor).

thanks agian

Great ... I will go install the motor now ... by the way what is good strength : # and quility #?

Strength means nothing, so all you are looking for is the best signal quality you can get, anything over 50% on my Fortec I would say is good, you will soon find out your signal quality threshold where it starts to cut out, so you are always looking to get the best Quality as you can, anything above 80% quality is tremendous!

I set it up and I set up me west and east limit ... and now when I try to move the dish it's no moving at all :
I have my scaren set up at LNB type: Univ ?
LNB Freq 1: 09750

LNB Freq 2: 10600

0/12 Volt: none
0
12 ?

22 KHZ tone: none
0
22?
Diseq : port A
B
C

C/K band: none
0/12
0.22?

I'm missing something ... any idea what?

Thanks agian

As long as the dish is not going to hit anything you can remove the limits settings , it has its own internal limit switches, thats all I can think of!

The 22khz should auto set.....

Ok I will give it a try in tomorrow .... by the way when u say" The 22khz should auto set" do you mean the setting on 22 KHZ tone: none and the C/K band: none?

Yes the 22khz tone should auto set when you select Universal LNBF, so what ever it says should be right, in fact you should not be able to change it, and I would select K band. Good Luck tomorrow!

THANK U SOOOO MUCH FOR YOU HELP TODAY ....

by the way th only option on the C/ku is 0 or 22 or none.
