Can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction to find where the HD(non-locals) channels are located? Am I correct that they are all on Sat C(110)? and if so which transponders correspond with which channels? Some of our transponders for Sat C are pretty weak.....could that be why we are not getting some of the HD channels? How high of a signal should we be aiming for? Thanks,

All the three "main" birds have some HD on them. What specifically are you having trouble with?

101 has NLF ST, CBS East, CBS West, NBC East, NBC West, FOX East,
110 has SHO HD, HDNet Movies, ABC East, ABC West, NFL ST
119 has CBS West, FOX West, NFL ST, HD PPV, HBO HD, ESPN HD, Universal HD, Discovery HD, HDNet

Specifically, Discovery HD and HD net and ESPN.........NBCW, FOXW...........we are ineligible for CBS and we don't have HBO, we do get SHOHD

Well from that list it seems you are having issues with HD channels from more than one of the satellites.

NBCw is on 101 (the main bird)
FOXw is on 119

How does your SHO and HDNet Movies perform? They are on 110.

our signal from 119 is really weak(we're only getting in the 40's and 50's)....... SHO is okay, univeral HD is okay, but not HDNET. The signal from 110 is in the 60's on all transponders...........our signal from 101 seems to be very good........85 on 1, 92 on 2, 100 on 28........

but we can't get discovery or espn at all, it just says search for signal.......

what is the signal strength where it is just too low???

95% your dish is poorly aimed. We always lose ESPNHD first when this happens. Get the dish realigned, by a professional if necessary.

I would agree that the dish has either become mis-aligned or wasn't tweaked for max signal to begin with. As Dino said, this would be the best 1st action. It will also be the cheapest; FREE! Then after that you can see if you need more professional trouble shooting. For ex: bad cable, LNB, etc. Is this the only HD unit in the house? If not, does the other unit do the same thing?

It was installed by a professional yesterday......unfortunately, D* took so long setting us up, he left before we found out that we couldn't get all the channels(the installer told us that 60% is a good signal on 110 and 119 in this part of the country).......its the only HD unit in the house. We are in a pretty bad location with trees around us, so we have never had the best signal there is, if this is the case, can we ever have HD I wonder..........certainly its not worth even the monthly amount if we can only get three or four at the most HD channels.........we get CBS OFA.

I can't make perfect claims about your part of the country, but I would say you SHOULD be able to pull in over 75. As far as the installer leaving before everything was tested for reception quality, did you sign his paperwork and let him leave, or did he just walk? Either way I would call back if it wasn't to my satisfaction, but you have a better leg to stand on if you didn't sign off on the job.
