I live close to Columbus, Ohio and currently have a superdish (105+110+119) and a separate dish aimed at 61.5. These are all connected to a DPP44 switch. Dish currently has the Columbus locals on 105 and 129. For my 622 upgrade, Dish is proposing a Dish 1000 (110+119+129) to replace my superdish. I will not let them remove my 61.5 dish since I would need it for Sky Angel. I get excellent signal strength on 61.5, 110, and 119. 105 is weak but I rarely watch the satellite locals since I get them in HD OTA. I subscribe to locals so that I have the locals in my guide.

I understand that 129 is weak. Since the HD channels would be on both 61.5 and 129, how does the receiver pick which satellite to use? If I lost 129 due to rain fade, would the receiver use 61.5 for the HD channels? I suspect that it will be a long time until Dish get HD locals for Columbus since Sinclair which owns ABC and FOX charges for the HD signal.

Things will be fine

When they put in a wing dish w/ a D1000 and use the DPP44 they will need to input into the 44 in the following order. 110/119/129/61.5. Then it will be able to recognize both the 129 & 61.5 slot. The 61.5 in port # 4 will get the system to acknowledge it for the signals off it as the dominate of the 2. It will also allow the sports stuff on 129 if you are into that.
