Does the D* HD receiver receive the locals in digital or analog format? I was talking to someone in the engineering dept. of the local cbs station and he seems to think that D* receiver may catch my locals, but not in the digital format so I could get HD. So will the D* HD reciever get locals in HD though an OTA antenna?

if your local stations broadcast in HD OTA then yes any D* HD STB also has the ATSC tuner you need to tune HD/SD digital OTA. this ONLY works if your locals broadcast in digital/HD, otherwise you would only get analog. DirecTV provides you with locals in SD digital by satellite. they buy the analog feed from the locals and convert it to SD digital for their subscribers. locals in HD by satellite are not yet available but DirecTV has annouced plan's to start offering them sometime next year. but if your in a small DMA, then those locals in HD by satellite are a long time away.
