HD Picture Quality

PQ has gone up. I don't know, really, but I often wonder how many people w/HDTVs have them set up right in the first place to get the best picture they can.

I'll argue that screen size to viewing distance is the biggest factor in being able to see the compression artifacts. If I move back 3ft from my TV most of the problems are no longer visible to my eyes. I currentlt sit 10-11ft from a 57" TV.

While I am not nearly as knowledgeable as most of you in these matters, I am sitting my big behind in front of the same tv, at the same distance, with the same lack of any expert setup, and I have noticed a decline in PQ.

The only other explanation would be worsening eyesight. But it's more fun to blame DISH, me thinks.
