Hey Gang,

I'm thinking I have to switch out my box, but I figured I'd ask you guys anyway. My set top box is ALWAYS on in the morning. What I mean by that is while I'm watching TV during the day or evening, when I turn the power off the system shuts off and eventually the hard drive spins down. When I get up in the morning, invariably the hard drive is spinning (you can hear it whirring away) but the system is NOT on .... ???? If I hit the power button the tuner fires up and I can watch TV.

Why is my box whirring for no reason every morning? Unless I un-plug the box, it will whir all day long !!!

My hard drive spins sometimes when it is off. But only for a couple of minutes. When it is off and is recording something then the hd spins. A couple of minutes after I turn off the box the hd stops spinning.
