Finally after many years D* is offering Russian channels.
Called in, was told I need intl dish, free install, guy showed
up, told me I can not see the 95 bird from the balcony where I have
the 3LNB (DTC100 + HDTV for 5Y+ by now) dish.

I can try putting it in the backyard (3 LNB worked there too and
I have more view toward the left). So I want to try it there. What
works in my favor is the fact the 95W bird has a very nice elevation
of 35 (NYC NY) and just might see above the neigbor's house, trees etc.

Question is: what do I need to get ? Will the multiswitch I have with the
3LNB dish work ? What about the 101 LNB that comes with the intl dish -
since I already have it, working, in my 3LNB dish, shoudl I just remove it ?

And of course it is a townhouse which complicates the whole thing. While
getting a second dish onto the balcony is a definite no-go, I think adding
it in the backyard should not be a problem.

you need a 6x8 switch

all 4 lines from the Phase III go into ports 1,2,3,4
the line from the 95 dish goes to port 5

You wouldnt need the LNB on the 95 dish for 101 since you have a Phase III :D

I think I only run 1 line out of the 3LNB dish, into the switch. Does it mean
there's an extra input for the 36" intl dish and I won't need another switch ?
Writing this from work, from memory, will check more when I get home.

Will DTC100 work with the 95 sat ? While D* support people told me it will,
they did not sound too sure about it.

Can anybody tell exact elevation/azimuth for D*'s 95W from NYC NY ? I kind of guesstimated it. @ http://www.csgnetwork.com/antennasatelazposcalc.html,
which of 95W sats do I choose ?

you need a 6X8 multiswitch that has flex ports.

if you have the phase 3 dish, all four ports of the lnb have to get connected to the multiswitch at the 13v and 18v ports, just hook em up it does not matter which goes to which. the 95 coax goes to the flex port , again there may be two flex ports, use the one marked 1.

After much work and research (it's been about 6Y now that I have installed the
HD setup: TV, DTC100 and Phase II + SatC kit setup), I am still not sure about:

- will DTC100 work with 6x8 multiswitch . It needs to support the latest ATG for that, from what I read

- since I have to have the 2 dishes in different locations: 1 on balcony and 1 in the backyard, can I position the MS by the TV and have 2 cables converge at it: 1 from the PhaseII+SatC, plugged to say port#1, and 1 from the 95 LNB on port #5

I am really excited about the availability of this package, after waiting for it for so long.
It does, however, seems most unfortunate that they choose 95W bird to carry these.
What a mess !

D* support has been very bad: I got disconnected 3 times, in the morning, when they
tried to route me to Intl support desk @ D* No help at all.

Worst case scenario I will have to acquire HD20, the extra dish and the 6x8 MS,
$600 worth of stuff I'd rather not have to buy. Plus, setting up the Mits to work
with HD20, Pronto reprogramming ... *($&!@#(*$&@!( #$!!!

Will this work for 95W (Solely for Russian/Intnl package):

- 36" Intl dish with a single LNB @ 95W
- D*'s D10 receiver

no multiswitch - I will connect this recvs to a separate video-in on my Mits.

nope, the reciever will not even lock if it cant see the 101. the 101 has to be locked and stay locked to get the 72, 95, 110 or the 119.
you lose the 101 you lose it all.

one more thought, i can see this scenerio coming down the road (and within a year), scott g and i have discussed this also.

fact; everyone, the subs , the techs, the hoas, everyone hates the 5 lnb and dishes "superdish"

fact: directv now has space at the 99 and 103 that was not available before, and that is a 5 degree spread, producing a phase 3 style dish with a 99ka/101ku/103ka lnb wouldnt be too hard.

fact: dish wants more capacity at its core slots of 110 and 119, directv might just be willing to sell the space at those slots for the right price and give up the rights at those locations, dish can do some moving around and they then produce a dish that grabs the 110,119,129 still....only 19 degrees.

nah.....wont ever happen......it makes too much sense.....LOL LOL LOL

Why the insistance of not using a 6x8 multi-switch?
