Help with double LNB satellite dish troubleshoot

Had a call from a friend who is having trouble
here is situation he told me about:

All inside lines were prewired and then finished over...

There is a eliptical dish with a double LNB that is bringing lines down to High Def Receivers and getting strong signals on all transponders...

another line is going to an older RCA unit and it is only getting ( i can t remember which transponders he said were coming through, I think it was even #'s )

I havent seen this yet, but plan to this afternoon...
I am thinking there is a regular splitter hidden in the finished wall somewhere causing this.

all lines carry power from the receivers to the dish,

any other ideas?

The unit you are having trouble with has a bad tuner and only dials in one side of the satellite. You could check this with a volt-meter, see the switching from 13-15V 17-19V. If it stays on 1 or 1 then 0V, then you got a bad tuner.
