Hi. I'm new to satellites, so this question might be easily answered. I get dish network through my apartment complex. I have subscribed to the bronze package. I have two televisions, an HD tv in the living room and an old SD tv in the bedroom. The HD tv is working fine. However on the SD tv I am missing a lot of channels, such as USA, TNT, Comedy Central---basically things that are supposed to be aired in both SD and HD. Is there some way to get these channels? If i just push the numbers the channel skips to the next channel that is supposedly subscribed.

Thanks!

From your SD TV, use your remote to go into the Dish menu. Check 'Locks'. See if those channels are 'locked out'.
This has been a problem for me several times. Stations would not appear in the EPG or show up if I tuned directly. Going into the 'Locks' menu I found these stations had been locked out. I don't remember ever locking them out myself, but unlocking the channels solved the problem.

Try unplugging your receiver for about 15 seconds and then plug it back in. Let it boot up and then see if those channels appear. If not, do a check switch to make sure that the receiver is receiving all of the satellites. The SD stations can be on a different satellite than the HD stations. You might need to call tech support. Are you using two receivers? What kind is the one in the bedroom?

I've tried to reset a few times. I have two different receivers. The one in the bedroom is a 381.

I'm not entirely convinced the receiver was set up properly in the first place. The guy who did it isn't the usual tv guy for my apartment and seemed to be having problems--which is why I'm not sure I want to call him back. (The "real" tv guy is on vacation)

Push the guide button until the "All Chan' list shows up, and then try it. Let us know what happens after that.

Another thought, the 381 is a redone 811. Could it be that it can't decipher mpeg4? Do what bebop asked and let us know how that worked out.

I think the 811/381 is not capable of catching the channels he's looking for. He needs a new receiver, like a 211.
