House & Garden TV coming to Sky Angel
see:

So I guess the question is, what religious channel is going to get the ax! I am sort of disapointed at the choice of yet another channel available in the AT60 level of Dish service being added to Sky Angel. I really wish they would add unique channels that have family programming.

Well the link that shows HGTV lists all the channels currently offered so its hard to guess what they will "ax" ... Knowing Skyangel's past history, something will go... They can't reallly compress much more unless they want it to look worse than a poor divx video file.

I totally agree Tony. If SA is going to get into the "family programming" business, I would think it would be in their best interest to add channels which Dish doesn't have. It would make it more attractive as an add-on to Dish.

How about good "family friendly" content channels like:

Ovation - http://www.ovationtv.com
AmericanLive (formerly GoodLife) - http://www.goodtv.com
America One - http://www.americaone.com
The Sportsman Channel - http://www.thesportsmanchannel.com

I like that they added Hallmark Movies. I don't like that they added Hallmark & HGTV.

I just hope they don't REMOVE a channel that wont be able to be received anywhere else to add HGTV... The problem with Skyangel is they prohibit DISH frmo adding new relgious channels yet they keep removing them.

I still have my old gear and all and if they keep this up I will more than likely swing my dish over to 61.5 and subscribe to the service. I had dropped the Dish for DirecTV and I have been wanting to subscribe to SA. I would like to see The Sportsman Channel, and America One come online with what they already have. this in itself would make it a much better service. I like the stuff on there now from what I have seen in the past. I know someone at the Sportsman Channel and I have emailed him, maybe I will find out something in the next few days.

vision tv channel

i wish that sky angel put on VISION TV THIS CHANNEL is from canada
but it as family programming .shows like -touch my angel, promised land,
soul man, and other programs
here is there web site
www.visiontv.ca/

The problem with Vision from Canada is international copyrights. Vision doesn't have the right to broadcast any of the programs listed in the United States. Why? Because Hallmark owns the US right for Touched by an Angel. Pax owns the US rights to Promised Land. I'm not sure what US network owns Soul Man, but this show only had 27 episodes.

Though I would love to see channels like this, we need to keep in mind that international copyright laws still apply to Sky Angel

Yeap, and is another reason those who ask for things like CBC Canada etc will probally never see them on American satellite or cable providers, due to the "syndex rules" and the fact that American broadcasters have the syndication rights for a lot of the shows you see in america.

Miracle Network is on a list called "The SRDU List" which can be aired here in the U.S. from Canada. the SRDU List is a list of mainly network affiliates in Canada that can be sold and seen in the U.S.through a commercial provider only. (cable tv, SA, NPS, etc.) Vision TV is not on that list and strictly viewed in Canada only.

The Spanish channel FETV will get the ax this time and be replaced by HGTV. HGTV starts on SkyAngel on August 24, 2005.
