Even the learning mode may not help. I purchased an inexpensive small sound bar for my 32" Vizio tv used in kitchen. The brand was not listed. tried the learning mode. didn't work. Since I liked the way it sounded (I used it with smartphone's Bluetooth to test it) and it was on sale at Amazon I decided to keep it.
The funny thing is Hopper remote works to change the volume. The only thing I need to do is press on/off button on sound bar remote after I turn the TV and Joey on. Life goes on.

As long as the original remote is ir, then learning mode 100% works for all ir devices. Sometimes it does take a few tries though for some reason.
