I've found my way around most of the interface and things are kind of working. We had a number of times while the installer was here that the picture would go black. It seems to have pulled down and update and is working at the moment. It did a firmware update to the remote, which was a shock to the installer.

He wouldn't let me keep my 42.0, said he'd get charged. I'm not a fan of the 52.0 yet, but I'm going to give it a good chance before I request a 42.0.

One question I have. Is it normal for the Hopper to only show 4 tuners on the tuner screen? It says 2 of 16 in use, but only shows 3 tuners plus the locals on tuner 4.

I tried to restore my timers and he told me it wouldn't work. I followed the instructions from another thread and the remote did communicate and the progress line (slowly) went across. Still no timers showing, though.

Restoring timers does work from old remote, many here have done it. Dish must be getting cheap about the remotes, don't know why they want used ones back, I kept mine even though he wanted to take them. Yes it is normal to only show 4 tuners as long as it says 2 of 16 in use it is OK. Your Hopper needs at least 24 hours to update & download all guides, etc. Give it time, at least one overnight update.

Thank you. It did appear to restore, but I had to argue to try... After it 'seemed' to work and showed nothing, did a software reboot after about 10 minutes and tried again... Hit or miss, I suppose. I've already put in the AMC & A&E ones. That and PTA takes care of a reasonable amount of stuff.

It's doing some craziness here and there. It went to standby on a whim a bit ago. I'm sure it will be more predictable by Monday.

Do not do any reboots right now, if software is being set up in the background it will only cause issues. Walk away & leave it till tonight & see if it's more stable by then.
