Hopper 3 media playback

Movies from my WD mycloud wont play on hopper 3.

My hopper sees the videos on my PC network, but doesn't play them. What video formats are compatible with it?

Try MKV format. Those are the only ones that work on mine. I converted all the videos I had.

Aren't those oddball formats? I use mp4 and .avi. Will the format choice be expanded?

MKV files using the H.264 codec play fine on my H3 using a Plex server. The new H.265 codec, which the Hopper 3 supposedly supports, does not.

MKV isn't that uncommon, but yeah, I'd consider M2TS to be an odd one.

Get the free and excellent program Xmedia Recode. Then open the video file and choose Matroska as output. Use the same bit rate as your source for video and set the audio to copy or whatever you like it to be. You can batch convert with it also. Start it before you go to bed and let it run overnight.

There is no telling if and when Dish is gonna fix it to play mp4 and avi and such.
