In a post on the LG 55EF9500/65EF9500 OLD thread in this post:
http://www.avsforum.com/forum/40-ol...9500-oled-owners-thread-438.html#post40702458

Someone posted this after his service call a few days ago:
"Also, for you Dish peeps... yesterday the tech said that Dish will start accepting orders for the Hopper 3 on January 28. One interesting tidbit he passed along was that the new LNB will only require ONE coax cable! He also said that if I signed a new two year contract, there would be no installation fees associated with replacing the LNB for Hopper 3 use. "

Since we were discussion transferring content and DISH letting one ship back the old Hopper after the Hopper 3 is installed, my question is wouldn't the old Hopper need a card inside to even be operational to do the transfer to EHD let alone be connected via coax to the dish at the same time the new Hopper 3 would have it's own card and connected to the dish via Coax or are there going to be two cards provided?

In many cases, the cards are built in until they come out with a new security regimen and then they will send you new cards. This has only happened once, maybe twice, in the 17 years I've been a Dish sub. That said, that doesn't matter, the H3 is going to look at the old Hopper's HD and do the transfer of just the recorded programs.

Since Dish is "planning" to allow this (keeping the older receiver for a short time to off-load recordings), I suspect they have a system in place to accommodate this. It could be as simple as authorizing (2) receivers at a time on an account and once the old receiver is rec'd by Dish, it then removes that 2nd receiver's authorization.

Hmmm. That's interesting. I believe that he's telling the truth but just seems odd. There has not been any news of this released to retailers yet.

Maybe since he's such a large scale national retailer he gets equipment sooner and has closer connections with Dish. I'm not a huge fan of this since retailer contracts state that we are all to be treated equal. Oh well.
I received an email, the order date has been pushed back by Dish by one week, so now, next Monday they can order, which seems more in line with the 28th release rumor.

I noticed Dish Depot switched their shipping date to the 25th. I ordered a couple nights ago, and sent an email to Mark last night asking some questions. As of 5:30AM PST when he got back got me, he said it was shipping tomorrow. So I'm curious if it will switch to the 25th for all of us, or those of us quick to order will still have it shipped tomorrow. We'll see i guess

It is everybody, Dish/Echostar pushed back the ship date to their distributors by one week. I have ordered a few more things from him, and he was telling me that they wouldn't be here until next week either, that's probably why he went ahead and sent an email to me.

Either way, no big deal. Thanks for the info!

This makes more sense. Seemed strange for people to selling something that had no official release date.
That is true when you say it like that.
I forgot dish Never said a date.
I had the 28th stuck in my head.
But I guess that was never official.

I really don't think they are going to run out of them that you need to pre-buy them either.
But I understand the excitement factor.

No. Only one H3 per account, and no other hoppers or super joeys allowed. Just H3, Joeys, Wireless Joeys, and 4K Joeys. First gen joeys will work, although they are installed Joey2.0 with the H3
