I have the DVR 625. I want to put my recordings onto my PC's hard drive so I can burn them to DVD's. But when I connected my DVR's hard drive to my computer it says it needs to be formated. How do I get the recordings off of the DVR's hard drive and still be able to use it in my receiver?

The recordings on the drive are encrypted, I believe. One method is to get a capture card, hook the receiver's output cable to that card and record it on your computer as it plays.

That's a little too close to hack talk. Be careful.

I don't want to do anything illegal, i'm just looking for a faster way than just recording as the DVR plays.

I've only been posting here for a few weeks and i've seen plenty of hack talk. Look through the threads for similar topics to yours, you'll find what you need...

Software to do it is hit or miss though...

oniel - Check the Yahoo group "dishrip". No hacking involved. You are simply archiving your recordings, as allowed by law. You may wanna check dishmod, as well. I'm not sure if they have info on the 522/625 yet, though.

It is correct, and that trying to rip the raw data from your hard drive is a violation of DMCA laws so we can not permit that kind of talk here. (Sorry guys I like the roof over my head) :D

Checkout the DishRip group on Yahoo for all the Info you need.
