How do I program the input button on the side of the Hopper 3 remote?

I have a Sony XBR65X850E TV and I've programmed my remote to that exact TV model number. The on/off/mute works but when I press TV + input button on the side it just reverts to another channel instead of changing the input for the TV, which is what I want.
I've even tested with a 2nd remote (we have 2 in the living room) and no go.
I've also tried a couple of similar Sony remote codes very close to my model number, they always show the same code (Sony, 4448).
I've also tested using the AUX button with the same TV code and also a no go like above.
Suggestions?

If it's a Joey, that's all you're gonna get. If it's the Hopper, make sure limited mode in Remote Settings is turned off

Actually you can do the same with a Joey. Remote Settings has a Limited Mode option as well.
