I know that I should be able to change the scrolling from 'smooth' to 'jumpy' on the Hopper, but I'm darned if I can figure out how and a search here didn't pull up anything about it.

What do you mean by jumping? You can jump forward 3 hours by press the Fast Forward button and 24 hours by pressing the FWD button.The corresponding button on the left side of the remote do the reverse jumping.
I'm talking about using the page up/down to scroll a screen at a time. Default is for a smooth scroll, I would rather a 'jump' if possible.

Yes, page down, and it does work but it is more like a scroll the page down instead of 'jump' a page down.
I swear I had my previous HWS configured that way, but cannot remember what I did to change the default. Possibly my old age memory is finally creeping up on me!!

I am not aware of a setting for this and have searched our Hopper here. Page up and down are the only way to accomplish this.

My question is, What's the big deal? So you might save a half second. In the world of things, this is very low down the rung, IMHO.

I get exactly what he means. On the VIP I can scroll up or down or jump from page to page up or down in the guide. So to get from channel 3 to channel 105 might take two pushes jumping, thereby going two pages, rather than holding the button and scrolling all the channels to get to 105.
Unless there is a bug I bet there is a way on the Hopper - why wouldn't there be?

That's fine to go directly to that channel - but sometimes I just want to see what's on and jumping from page to page is a quick way. I don't think he's asking for anything new or anything that can be done as easily in another way other than scrolling all the channels to browse up and down. - Dish receivers have always done what he is asking, if the Hopper does not I don't get why.
I can page up and down on my Hopper. There is no need to go one channel at a time. It's done exactly the same way it is done on the VIPs. Simply press the page up or page down buttons on the remote....
Yep and mostly it's responsive to the amount of presses, regardless of the scroll animation. Especially on the Hopper w/Sling. It's still pretty nice when I'm scrolling through with my "old" 722k. It's nice that it's (mostly) instantaneous. The Hopper eye candy is nice too though.
As I remember the VIP jumped a full page while the Hopper jumps one line less.
This should give you some continuity between pages although 6 lines vs 7 lines of jump.
Pity many cable boxes "jumping" 3 or 4 lines only. And 1.5 vs 3 hours the other way.

As long as we're on the subject of guide scrolling, my Joey will scroll 2 pages up or down with only one push of the page button. It does it as soon as I turn it on and try to scroll but after its been on a while it will work normally. I'm sure its just another flukey thing that needs a SW fix.
