Like many New Years resolutions, one of mine was to get monthly expenses under control. I have downgraded to the Welcome Pack and now would like to exchange the HWS for a 211z and drop the DVR fee. This would get my monthly bill to exactly what I would have to pay in ETF so at least I would be getting something for my money.
What is the best way to go about this? Should I purchase the 211z on-line and then call DISH to make the exchange or just call them to do the deal. I am assuming if I had a technician out to make the change there would be a considerable fee. I can do it myself. How will I go about returning the HWS and does anyone have an estimate of what that will cost?
Finally, do I need to remove the Solo Node for the 211 to work? Could I run just a single RG 6 from the 211 to one output on the Western Arc dish?

Take the solo node out and add a barrel connector to the coaxes at the connector. So, you would have a coax headed to to the dish then a barrel connector and the coax headed to the 211 all connected together. You get a straight connection from the dish to the 211 that way.

Yes, I actually have a combination barrel connector/grounding block as that is also where the installation is grounded. May I choose either one of the two coax cables that come from the dish and just leave the other loose?

Either one will work. Leave the other loose but put a 75 ohm terminator on it. You will need a second barrel for that...
