How to, with Dish external drives.

Looking for a how to for the Dish external drive. Just activated one. Want know how to move content around from receiver to external and back and forth. Any tricks or tips would be great thanks. Most of the threads I find are problems people have with a certain drive. Thanks for any help., Budda

How To Transfer Content

• Receiver: 922
  1. Press MENU on the remote control
  2. Select My Media Transfer
  3. Highlight and select the USB device listed on the screen
  4. Select the appropriate events to transfer
  5. Select Transfer
  6. Select Yes on Pop Up 1006 to begin transfer process

• Receiver: 612, 622, 722, 722k
  1. Press the DVR button twice on the remote control
  2. Select My Media
  3. Highlight and select USB Storage on the screen
  4. Select “Send to Device” to transfer recordings from the DVR to the EHD
  5. Select the movie you want to transfer
  6. Select “To Archive” to begin transfer

To watch something from the EHD, hit DVR button once, choose My Media and then USB Storage, choose Manage Device to access content

Internal site is way off. I know that pressing DVR twice takes you to my recordings

I guess this wouldn't be the first time it was wrong

To manage external hard drive recordings on my 722, I usually press the "DVR" button twice to get to the My Recordings screen, then select the "My Media" listing. However the "My Media" listing doesn't appear if you have no recordings on your 722 internal hard drive, or if you have "Group" options set to "No Groups". Then you have to do what vash1090 recommends to access the external hard drive--press "DVR", "5", then "2". Then press "1" to Manage Device or "2" to Send to Device to archive recordings. Manage Device lets you Restore (to internal hard drive), Play or Delete recorded program(s) on the external hard drive.

The manage external hard drive listings match how internal hard drive recordings appear on the My Recordings screen--Alpha/Numeric or DVR date, and No Groups or Group by Title work on external hard drive listings also.
