This may well be at the level that the FTC should drop the big hammer for anti-competitive practices. We pretty much know that the EU would step up.

I can't imagine how someone could be so stupid as to design an printer that could be subject to such a threat. I understand that a lot of the processing has moved from the printer's engine to the software drivers but that's just beyond reason.
