HR24 Issue

If you tried a reboot and problem still persists, probably bad hard drive.

and if that's the case need to replace receiver ?

Yes. Some have reported once they contacted DirecTV and they confirmed the issues, DirecTV didn't want the HR24 returned.

You can run diagnostic testing on your receiver if you like.

Reboot it, at the "self-check" screen hit the select button on the remote (or front face panel).

There are several tools, but the one that will be most useful is likely the short hard drive test.
