I want to integrate the coolsat into my exsisting system.
I have a C-band dish with a 4dtv sidecar.
What would be the best way to include the Coolsat?
Hook the lnb up to it first, then the sidecar, then the c-band.
Or should I split the the lnb coax before each unit.
I have a disEq 4x1 switch, do I need it?
I would appreciate any help. Ron

PS. I have had a C-band system for about 10 years now. I added the sidecar last spring. I have done all of this myself, but some of this FTA stuff has me scared, is it really that difficult?

The main reason that I got the FTA, is to get the Anchorage stations on W-7. I live in Alaska and it has always been a hassle with the time differance on the Denver networks.

I believe the best way would be to slave the Coolsat to your Cband system. I don't have Cband so someone will have to jump in with more detail. If you've had Cband awhile I don't think you'll have any trouble with FTA.

Here's a page I found that might help:

http://www.dssboxes.com/troubleshooting/bigdish.html

Unless you have multiple LNBs (for example a C-band LNB and a Ku band LNB on the big dish), or multiple dishes and therefore multiple LNBs, you wouldn't need the DiSEqC switch.

Also, as far as I know, none of the 4DTV receivers will control a DiSEqC switch. An alternative would be a 22k tone switch if you only have 2 LNBs. Again, if you only have one LNB, you won't need any switch.

Since polarity on a big dish is usually controlled by a polarity motor, your 4DTV would probably be in charge of polarity control.

EDIT: Moderators, please edit this message if the parent site of the page I linked to contains any material that violates the rules of this forum. They claim to be true FTA, but who knows? Thanks!
