If you cancel Dish does the OTA HD still work?

Hi:
I am currently a VOOM customer and VOOM has told me that they will shut off my receiver's ability to display the OTA channels if I ever cancel my service. Does Dish do the same thing? It seems wrong for a company to be able to block me from receiving a free broadcast on equipment that I purchased.

As long as you have a dish aimed at one of the satellites, you will be able to receive OTA on a Dish receiver.

My Dish 6000 receiver would get pretty upset if it couldn't find the satellite, once it did find the satellite, I could watch local OTA even though it was deauthorized.
