Yesterday a storm rolled through and I watched the 3 satellite strengths. 110 and 119 dropped to the 40s and 129 went to zero. There is a tree that is close to the path to 129 (not blocking) so that is probably the major influence. Can't find a location that would be totally clear for 129.

If the tree casts a shadow on part of the dish, it could reduce signal strength. there are two solutions, cut the offending tree limb or move the dish, probably a little bit east.

What is a RF shadow?
RF Shadow -The area directly behind an RF obstruction. Depending upon the change in direction and velocity of the diffracted signals, the area of the RF shadow can become a dead zone of coverage or still possibly receive degraded signals.

I just checked the DirecTV sats and they are in the clear. I've been happy with Dish but can't argue with trees that are constantly growing. Cutting trees is not an option - they provide great shade from the West. I'm going to try the Eastern arc that is clear for now. If that doesn't work I guess it's time for DTV.
