I am trying to determine if I have an installation/allignment problem or if I have a bad LNB.

I am using the Slimeline 5 (3LNB) new model dish unit.

After peaking with a meter I get the following readings

Sat 101
1-8: 95-93-95-0-94-100-94-97
9-16: 94-95-95-87-95-98-94-98
17-24: 95-0-95-94-95-98-95-98
25-32: 95-93-95-0-96-100-95-100

Sat 110
8: 95
10: 95
12: 95

Sat 119
22-24: 98-96-97
25-32: 0-100-100-98-96-100-0-100

99a
1-8: 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0
9-14: 0-0-0-0-0-0

99b:
1-6: 0-0-0-0-34-0
15-16: 0-0
17-24: 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0

103(s): SIGNAL FAILED

103(b)
1-8: 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0
9-14: 0-0-0-0-0-0

I do not get anything on the 99 and 103 Ka satellites, most HD channels show searching for signal.

Are there any other possibilities?

Thanks.

Model H-20-100
No B Band converters installed. Home run RG-6 Receiver to LNB

Installed b-band converter. When D* mailed that to me, they said I would not use it. Glad I kept it.

just installed today

i got an hr22-100 and a r22 dvr.they both did the same thing when the installer hooked them up to sat.they would have a signal then lose it.he reaimed the dish twice.that didnt help.my reg reciever had a picture.what had happened the lnb was showing a signal on his meter but it wasnt stong enough for the recievers.he put a different lnb on the 5 lnb swm dish and fine tuned it.the recievers worked fine.the lnb was working but not working.hope that helps.both recievers were brand new and the r22 dvr was bad.he replaced it with a new one and its works fine.

Bingo.

If you had the B-band converters installed and had still had the same problem I would have said dish alignment... very few techs actually carry meters that can read the HD birds and they have to fine tune the HD satellites using the 101 and the fine tuning bolts. I have heard way too many times about techs tuning in the 101 to the max they could get it and didn't fine tune (or know how to do it right). Tuning the Slimline in correctly for the customer is so important, I have heard way too many times about the "wonderful slimline that doesn't need fine-tuning" from installers that generally also have 10 unused monopoles floating around the back of their truck.

The worst part is that HSP techs seem to be the worst about it... but I feel for those guys, they get the crap end of the stick from their routing people and are often rushed by their scheduled work.

You really like to generalize "a HSP tech" dont you.. I couldn't even tell you how many piss poor crap jobs I have rolled to that were done by subs or even the appearance of some of these subs I meet.

At least a HSP tech goes through training, over half the subs I know were tossed in with another tech for a few days them let loose. oO get over yourself.

So if a guy doesn't look good to you, you'll do a half a**ed job ?
I didn't know the sub's were suppose to dress up for the D* tech ...

We all roll up to CRAP jobs, some jobs are better than others ...
Sometimes it's one of your own employees that may have been having a bad day and did it, other times not.

Relax will ya.

Sure there are exceptions, but I generalize HSP techs because it is generally true that there work is terrible and that is more the fault of the HSP than the techs...

Training? Really? HSPs give a two week training class that is 90% classroom/videos of Patrick the installer and 10% watching the trainer do service calls... then they are thrown out into the field to do 3-5 installs in a day, get their paychecks messed with, ect...

Seriously, when a 50 tech shop is has 10 techs in the training course every two weeks and still is short handed all of the time... that's a problem! Ever notice that the HSP always has a help wanted ad in the paper and how they went ahead and painted "now hiring" on every one of their vans?

HSPs treat their employees like crap and it hurts their work. Trust me, I worked for an HSP for 2 years... I know how they treat the guys.

Not "look good" I mean rolling in 1988 escort smoking like its running on a locomotive steam engine.. wearing clothes that a painter wouldn't be seen in .. I could care less if you your missing every other tooth and pull your 12 hairs over your head, you should present yourself professionally... is what I was getting at...

Relax.. I am calm.. its just annoying that the last blurb in Spizes comments are HSP techs are garbage.. There are bad apples in every basket.
