I'm planning a new installation with a 722k and one other duo HD receiver.

If I pay the $40 and add an external hard drive to the 222k, is it functionally equivalent to the 722k? Any performance, ease of use or other issues associated with that strategy to save the extra dvr fee? Or does it behave just like a 722k.

Also, for a new installation, how many coax cables run from the dish to each duo receiver? I know there are two satellite inputs on the receivers, but are they normally both used?

Thanks.

The 222, unlike the 211, doesn't yet have a DVR capability with an external HDD unless it's just been added. With Dish Pro Plus (DPP) hardware only one cable from the satellite is required for a dual tuner receiver. Both sat inputs on the receiver are connected to a separator which is connented to the single cable from the satellite.
