Is the 501, a uhf remote controlled reciever only

Just wanted to know if the 501 should respond to IR signals. Plat. remote is dying and want to use universal.

No, it responds to IR signals as well.

This is correct. I've used a universal remote with my 501 for years. I like the OneForAll remotes. Just upgraded from an older OneForAll to their Kameleon and it's great!

We have used a multi-functional blue button remote (even the UHF ones) on the 501/508/510 in the past.
