issue with 942 HDMI output

I tried to connect a hdmi to dvi cable but it does not work, do I need to change any setting on my 942. I called Dish they said I need to change the TV setting, I am sure its not the TV that is the problem. Any input is apppreciated.

I'm not sure if it's my 942's HDMI output or my Mitsubishi's MONILINK input, but the picture has been fading out, then coming back to full intensity. The component outputs don't show this behavior, so I've switched over for now. Has anybody else seen behavior like this?

Im using hdmi on my 942, not using dvi though tv has hdmi too. No issues though, just looks tidier and functions about the same.
