It's now 3pm and Dish is still not here for the 8-12 Install

I was called this morning at 10:30 and told that they did not have my 722k in stock and that they have to wait until today's shipment showed up.
This will be the 3rd trip to my house to do the install. First time the installer knew nothing about the EA, 2nd trip the site manager said I had to have an EA install but it would be a few days before someone could do the install, and now today.

I called the welcome center and they just passed me through to the dispatch department... not what I wanted

So when everything is all said and done and I get my install... what can I expect Dish to do to compensate me for their short comings? They've had my order on file for 10 days... they had the hardware 10 days ago but they have since given it away. The site manager told me on Saturday they had all my gear for my install as well.

I don't want something for nothing, but I've had to burn up several hours of personal unpaid time and honestly I'm a little frazzled... but what can I do.. go back to cable?

I want a credit for my time, or another 3 months of HBO for free... is that too much to ask??

Sorry... more of a vent than anything... feel like a damn show dog going through hoops to get away from Time Warner.

You caught it on you last comment.

Call 333-dish, tell them the whole story in excruciating detail and don't stop talking until you finish. Then ask them what they can do, you can then offer 'sh*t, if you give me HBO for another 3 months I'll be happy, just install my dddddd receiver!"

Works for me every time.

One time I took the day off when I had a scheduled install, and they never showed. I called Dish to complain, and they told me my appointment had been rescheduled - without bothering to tell me about it.

I feel your pain, I went through the whole thing with the technician not calling or showing up in the time window, and he finally arrived at my house at 8 PM.

You wouldn't happen to be in the North Florida or Jacksonville area by chance?

Her info says Dayton OH.

They're finally here, doing the installation.... and they sent over a 722 and not a 722k like in the work order.

So no 722k and no OTA module.

Not sure if I should be concerned about having a 722 vs the 722k

this has been such a fiasco

I had a situation with DISH recently that required 2 trips and 3 lengthy troubleshooting calls to correct.

When the problem was resolved I emailed CEO at Echostar dot com and explained to them the entire saga in great detail.

At the end of my email I told them the 3 things I expected of them and they agreed to each one.

Currently I get a $10/mo credit for a year, they waived the service call fee and they waived the shipping fee on the new receiver.

I probably could have asked for more but these seem to be the most typical mea culpa deals from DISH.

Don't just settle for 3 mo of free HBO. They give that to everyone who signs up anyway.

Don't be concerned, you'd hardly use the 2nd OTA tuner. You can use your HDTV tuner if you need a second OTA tuner simultaneously with the first.

Plus you don't have to pay extra for the OTA tuner, so you save $30.

And your comment about 'no OTA module' might be better said: I got (1) OTA tuner instead of ZERO. That way I don't have to order the (2) tuner module!

The 722 is an excellent receiver - just keep it cool by using a small fan on the side to force air through the vents. And give it plenty of circulation in the room you put it in instead of inside a cabinet with no airflow.

I did, it still doesn't excuse your disrespect for me. There is an edit button that you could have gone back and removed your flame at me once you figured out it was you that was in error.

In fact, me reading the rest of the posts and you not apologizing for your disrespect for me made it only worse. Someone else needs to get more mature IMHO.

When I'm wrong, I admit it or will go back and correct my mistake and inform everyone that I've done so (as I did when I accidentally used D* when I meant E*). I changed the original post as to not cause confusion and then thanked the person that pointed it out to me. That's mature in case you were confused.
I suggest you cool down. Having read all the posts, you're the only one that flamed anyone. Not everyone knows that it's 1-800-333-3474.

So I finally have Satellite service

I was totally bowled over at the picture quality... and being the dork that I am I decided to futz around with all the settings

I realized that my TV was set for 480 and not 1080...

HOLY JUMPED UP @#$@#$@#

The picture is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!

I feel like Time Warner owes me for 3 years of sh*tting TV service....

To the point where I forgot all about how much grief and crap I had to go through to get Dish Network service and how I now have 2 satellites (not a wing dish mind you... but 2 satellites 5 feet apart on my patio)

The Picture quality trumps it all!

Yo-yo installer eh... failed to set it up for 1080i??? Shocked he didn't hook it up with composite cables or an RF modulator...lol
