Same here, when I went from DirecTV in 09 to DIsh in 09 they used same existing wiring from the directv install. Had no issues install wise. Had no major issues with them, except no YES network, hated not having the Yankees, then the ST I missed it, so I switched back in 2010. What got me was they wanted over 800.00 to install HD Dish and Receivers, plus paying same now as with Dish and have HD and everything(DVR, etc...), But they are a good business, I like them over Cable any day.

Does DISH have a 2 year commitment like D* ?

They do. You can buy the equipment and go month to month but I don't see the point cost wise.

Ive been back and forth several times, like Directv better mainly because of PQ. It's nice to save money of course, but paying the same amount of dough, Id take Directv every time.

For the same money, I most likely would as well based on my past experience with both.

$100? How is it possible that you paid that much? I have yet to have a bill over $80 (except for when I used to sub to EI) the entire time I was with them.

Looks like the Hopper may be the best option for you. Hope everything works out

Choice extra, DVR fee, Whole home, three receivers, taxes, ect. It adds up.
I have had it less of course with discounts and what have you, but generally it is right at $100 give or take a few dollars either way.

I dont even look at mine anymore. I have all the premiums, usually at least one UFC charge, and now 5 months of ST payments LMAO

I was paying over $100 until i dropped to the choice package. now i'm paying about $96 a month. so it is possible.

Yeah, that is what we are getting, one Hopper, two Joeys. Good lord, who came up with those ridiculous names?

Appreciate it.

OK. Just looking at my bill I would normally be paying $96/month. I forgot about the discounts I have had for the last two years. I am currently paying $76/month, but I have 2 years of free HD (-$10) and $10 off my Choice Xtra for 2 years.

Those will both be expiring this summer. Once they do I will call them and ask them for the same discount. If they cannot, then FiOs will be about the same price and I may go with them.

i plan to do the same DK. but if they don't give me a little help for at least few months i'm not going anywhere. there's nothing else even comparable down here. i'll pay until the day i can't. suspending the account for a few months is always an option too.

Have they ever gotten better DVR's. Thats one of my biggest issues when looking elsewhere, its hard to top my Dish/Directv with a 2TB external, which I need (my 2 TB is 30% full right now, Im like 4 weeks behind).

Yeah, D* has always been good about giving me discounts, and most likely would have again, but it still wouldnt (based on the best discounts I have gotten) have matched new customer promo pricing and the savings over the two year period.

That is the only reason for my switch. It really isnt about the "money", it is about spending that much on something that I dont use as much as I used to. If that makes sense.
